Fire - By Kristin Cashore

What a disappointment. Sorry folks, but this book is nowhere as good as Kristin Cashore's first book, Graceling. It took me SO long to read this because I was just not interested. I wasn't interested in the storyline, I didn't really grow any kind of attachment to the main character, and the developing love story fell flat and unbelievable. Never, during the entire time I read this, was I ever like "Yay, team Fire!" To be honest, she kind of annoyed me most of the time.

Here is the inside of the book flap if you're interested in knowing what it's about(because I honestly don't have a summary to make up myself):

"It's not a peaceful time in the Dells. The young King Nash clings to his throne while rebel lords in the north and south build armies to unseat him. The mountains and forests are filled with spies and thieves and lawless men. This is where Fire lives. With a wild, irresistible appearance and hair the color of flame, Fire is the last remaining human monster. Equally hated and adored, she has the unique ability to control minds, but she guards her power, unwilling to steal the secrets of innocent people. Especially when she has so many of her own. Then Prince Brigan comes to bring her to King City. The royal family needs her help to uncover the plot against the king. Far away from home, Fire begins to realize there's more to her power than she ever dreamed. Her power could save the kingdom. If only she weren't afraid of becoming the monster her father was."

My next venture is The Mortal Instrument Series. I've heard it's really good and I'm excited to start on a series that has so much hype.

Oh man; now I feel torn about if I should read this or not. I bought both Graceling and Fire from Barnes & Noble during a book sale that they had on their website a few months ago, but if you said it wasn't as interesting as you'd originally thought, I may have to move on to another book once I finish Graceling. Be sure to keep us updated on this next series!

I'm sorry Julia! I didn't want to say anything until I finished it because I kept hoping it would get better and start captivating me, but it never happened. It's hard to find a good book series that is continuously good. I hope I find that this next series is that way because that's what everyone is telling me.
